Earl W. Powell is Chairman and CEO of Powell Investment Advisors. Mr. Powell is also Founding Partner and Chairman Emeritus of Trivest Partners, L.P., a private equity firm in Coral Gables. Prior to forming Trivest in the early 1980’s, he was a partner of KPMG Peat Marwick.

Mr. Powell helped establish and was previously Chairman of the University of Florida Investment Corporation. Mr. Powell is a Trustee of the John S. and James L. Knight Foundation where he previously served as Chairman of the Investment Committee. He is also Trustee Emeritus of the National Foundation for Advancement in the  Arts. Until recently, he served as a Trustee of the University of Florida.

 

Jesse A. Wachs, CFA has been Chief Investment Officer of Powell Investment Advisors since 2007.  Prior to joining Powell Investment Advisors, Mr. Wachs was a Senior Analyst and Trader for the Convertible Arbitrage Fund at PRS Group. In this role, Mr. Wachs was responsible for fundamental and technical analysis of convertible bonds and equity securities across all industries and sectors. He also was the sole manager of a Global Macro equity overlay alpha strategy for the convertible portfolio. Prior to joining the PRS Group, Mr. Wachs worked as an investment banker with TD Securities (USA) in New York. Mr. Wachs currently serves on the Investment Committee for the Chapman Partnership.

Mr. Wachs graduated with high distinction from the Goizueta Business School of Emory University with a B.B.A. Mr. Wachs has earned the right to use the CFA designation and is a member of the CFA Society of Miami.

 

Todd J. Gross is Portfolio Manager of Powell Investment Advisors.  Prior to joining Powell Investment Advisors, Mr. Gross was an Associate for Trivest Partners, L.P., a private equity firm in Coral Gables.  In this role, Mr. Gross was responsible for the analysis of investment opportunities, identification of strategic acquisition targets and monitoring of existing portfolio companies.

Prior to joining Trivest, Mr. Gross was an investment banker at Banc of America Securities and a tax associate with KPMG in New York.  Mr. Gross received his B.S. in Accounting and Master of Accounting from The  University of Florida and is a Certified Public Accountant. Mr. Gross holds the Series 65 license.
